Faith Baptist Church

biblemtn.jpg (8742 bytes)We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men supernaturally inspired; that it has truth without any admixture of error for its matter; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the age, the only complete and final revelation of the will of God to man; the true center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried.

1. By "Holy Bible" we mean that collection of sixty-six books, from Genesis to Revelation, which as originally written does not only contain and convey the Word of God but is the very Word of God.

2. By "inspiration" we mean that the books of the Bible were written by holy men of old as they were moved by the Holy Spirit in such a definite way that their writings were supernaturally and verbally inspired and free from error, as no other writings have ever been or ever will be inspired.

3. We believe that the original manuscripts are no longer in existence, but that God supernaturally and providentially preserved His Word from the beginning through all of time to this very moment. ( Psa 12:6-7; Isa 59:21; Matt 5:18, 24:35; 1 Pe 1:23)

4. We believe that God's Word is preserved for English-speaking people today in the Authorized King James Version (1611 AD), and that it is the God-honored text of this age.

We believe that inspiration without preservation would be meaningless; we reject all other translations and paraphrases of the Word of God and subscribe to and use only the KJV in all our activities.

5. We believe that the study of the individual Greek and Hebrew words in the original languages for the clarity of meaning is not precluded by this statement. We accept the Textus Receptus as our Greek text. We do not believe it necessary to study the original languages in order to understand the Word of God.

6. We believe the Bible to be the absolute and final rule of faith, doctrine, and practice for the believer; and that every believer must come under its authority in order to be obedient to God. (See 2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Pe 1:19-21; Acts 1:16, 28:25; Psa 119:105, 130, 160; Lu 24:5-27; John 17:17; Lu 24:44-45; Psa 119:89; Prov 30:5-6; Rom 3:4; 1 Pe 1:2-3; Rev 22:19; John 12:48; Isa 8:20; Eph 6:17; Rom 15:4; Lu 16:31; Psa 19:7-11; John 5:45-47, 5:39)
